Shake It Up…

February 9, 2010

I absolutely love to entertain friends and family at my house.  It’s so much fun to catch up and laugh, share stories from work or silly things we did that week., and of course eat!  To keep the party extra scrumptious, I always serve a yummy cocktail (nonalcoholic beverages are just as fun too).

PINK MARGARITA

  • 1 1/2 oz. tequila
    1/4 oz. Campari
    1/2 oz. fresh lemon juice
    1/2 oz. honey

Add all ingredients into a cocktail shaker with ice and shake vigorously. Pour into a tumbler. Serve on the rocks and garnish with a lemon slice and mint leaf.

PINEAPPLE MOJITO

  • 6 chunks of canned or fresh pineapple
    8 mint leaves
1/2 oz. simple syrup (dissolve one part sugar in one part hot water)
Juice from a lime, plus a couple of pieces
    2 oz. Bacardi Limón rum
    Splash of soda

Muddle all ingredients but rum in a glass. Add ice, rum, and a splash of soda. Stir well. Garnish with pineapple.

TENNESSEE TEA

1 part Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Whiskey

1 part triple sec

1 part sour mix

2 parts Diet Coke

Combine ingredients and serve over ice.

POMEGRANATE SPARKLER

1 cup pomegranate juice

1 stick cinnamon

2 cups sparkling mineral water

Frozen whole cranberries

In a small saucepan, heat pomegranate juice to near boiling, add cinnamon stick, and simmer for 10 minutes. Remove from heat and allow to cool completely, at least 1 hour. Remove cinnamon stick. Divide the spiced juice between 2 tall glasses; add 1 cup sparkling mineral water to each glass. Stir, add ice, and serve with a garnish of frozen cranberries.
